BMGK Annual Industry Report
Each year, the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology commissions the creation of a print edition that serves as a comprehensive overview of the mining industry for the previous year. This edition includes key statistics, data, news, contact information of members, and a recap of notable events from the year. It provides a summary of the past year’s highlights and is traditionally distributed on Miner’s Day, August 8th, alongside a cocktail event.
The 2024 edition of the overview was designed to align with the key visual of the European Mining Business Forum, as both are organized by the same institution and designed by me. This edition aimed to impress with its minimal design approach, featuring harmonious compositions of blue and yellow triangles. The layout was developed in InDesign, following a structured template to ensure coherence and consistency throughout.
Given the abundance of statistics, custom charts were meticulously designed to present the data clearly and effectively. Key elements such as chapter dividers, a table of contents, a masthead, and page numbers were thoughtfully considered to organize the extensive content. The goal was to create a visually appealing and user-friendly publication, making it easy for readers to navigate and absorb the information.
The 2023 edition was the first I created for BMGK. The cover design naturally followed the style of previous editions, maintaining the familiar structure of an image and title. However, I selected a specific segment of the image and, using Photoshop, enhanced it to appear sunnier, more golden, and lively. I also incorporated textures I had personally photographed and edited, ensuring they aligned with the overall theme for the table of contents page and back cover.
During the design process, my goal was to create a clean yet dynamic layout that stayed true to the organization’s visual identity while introducing a more vibrant and fresh feel. I collaborated closely with the editorial team to ensure the design complemented the content effectively. Additionally, I developed a text template that was consistently followed, organizing the content with clear headings, subheadings, body text, and other elements to ensure a cohesive and readable layout.
